Botanic garden charcoal sketch

Botanic garden, Prague 2, Karlov, Charcoal sketch by RadkaBotanic garden in Karlov is an oases of peace in the busy city of Prague.

The outdoor garden is open all year round to the visitors. It is about 5 minute walk from metro station Karlovo namesti or just one tram stop from it. Because the garden is situated on the slope it provides many different amazing views of plants, trees and aging surrounding buildings of Faculty of Botanics from variety of angles. The setting in the old town of Karlov provides the gardens enigmatic atmosphere.

There is also quite a unique tribute to Karel Capek, whose short story is printed in a line along one pavement. So as you go along the path you read the story from beginning to the end. I love walking around this place because I find it very spiritually uplifting and inspiring. I would love to capture it in different seasons. This charcoal sketch is a view not far from the main gate and right in front of the greenhouse entrance facing away from it. It is early spring and the garden is slowly awakening.
